Accounts Receivable/ Junior Clerk

Job Overview:

Chukka is always looking for talent to join its strong team of energetic, skilled, dedicated professionals who provide great service to Adventure Seekers who visit our Locations across Jamaica. The Accounts Receivable/ Junior Clerk will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency of operations, processing and monitoring incoming payments, and securing revenue by verifying and posting receipts.

Major Responsibilities/Daily Activities:

• Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying,
classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables’ data
• Prepare bills, invoices and bank deposits
• Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
• Verify discrepancies by and resolve clients’ billing issues
• Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients
• Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status.

Education & Experience:

• BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
• One to two years of Accounts Receivable Clerk experience required

Competencies:

• Proven working experience as accounts receivable clerk, accounts receivable manager or accountant
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and
financial records
• Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
• Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software (Great Plaines or other full-scale AR software)
• Proficiency in English and in MS Office
• Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Accounts Receivables Clerk (Kingston, Jamaica) - Agro-Investment Corporation

Agro-Investment Corporation, an entity under the ambit of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation is seeking to identify a highly motivated, dynamic and knowlegeable individual to fill the post of:

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLES CLERK

Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Accountant, the Accounts Receivables Clerk is responsible for securing revenue by verifying, posting receipts and resolving discrepancies. This role involves keeping track of and processing incoming payments, maintenance of registers and subsidiary ledgers in compliance with financial policies and procedures of the Agro-Invest.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Ensure the timely preparation of adjusting entries for posting in the General Ledger
  • Reconcile accounts receivables transactions
  • Post payments received from customers by recording cash, cheques, and credit card transactions
  • Maintain up-to-date billing system and update receivables by totalling unpaid invoices
  • Follow up, collection and allocation of payments
  • Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for and properly posted
  • Maintain Accounts Receivable history and files
  • Prepare and send out invoices and statements for clients
  • Resolve collection issues by examining customers' payment plans, payment history and credit line
  • Organize a recovery system and initiate collection efforts
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, mail or personally
  • Provide appropriate responses to audit queries and implement the necessary corrective measures
  • Investigate and resolve customers' queries
  • Prepare schedules to audit purposes
  • Provide accurate monthly financial and management reports
  • Performs other related functions assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • NVQ-J level II or III, diploma in General Accounting/CAT level 2 or ACCA level 1 or AAT level 2 or Associate degree in Accounting from a recognized institution
  • Knowledge of accounts receivables
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting software
  • Completion of relevant Government Accounting courses
  • Two (2) years experience in accounts receivable/collections and general ledger accounting 
Required Skills/Competencies:
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent time management and organizing skills
  • Excellent integrity/ethics exercised in the performance of duties
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, ACCPAC and other Accounts Receivables software
  • Sound knowledge of Public Service rules, regulations and practices.

  • Inventory management and financial accounts to Trial Balance
  • Applicant must be able to work on own initiative and possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be computer literate
  • Knowledge of Sage 50 accounting software would be an asset

Warehouse Workers, Office Admin, Machine Operators, etc. - Kingston, Jamaica

Medium-sized company in Kingston seeking the following individuals 
1) Male Warehouse Workers and Female Warehouse Workers:
  • Being able to operate a Fork Lift is an asset however, it is not a requirement. (for males) 
  • Must be able bodied 
  • Should be able to Read and Write
  • Food Handler's Permit 
  • Must be Respectful and Be able to follow instructions given .
  • Should be able to operate under a shift system, whether it be night or day. This post requires individuals to work on weekends. 
2) Office Administrator  

  • Should be able to Type, File and Organize Data.
  • Assign jobs and duties to staff as needed
  • Preferably a senior individual 
  • Must display Leadership Qualities and must be a no-nonsense person 
  • Should be able to manage staff and enforce disciplinary actions where necessary
  • Must have had 5-10 years experience in the post 
  • Must be Respectful and Be able to follow instructions given 

3) Junior Accounting Personnel 
  • University Graduate with a degree in Business Studies: Accounting or Someone who is pursuing level 1 of the ACCA programme 
  • Must be Respectful and Be able to follow instructions given 
4) Production Manager and Assistant Production Manager 
  • Must oversee the production process; monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed;
  • Must ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed;
  • Must supervise and motivate a team of workers;
  • Must review worker performance;
  • Individuals must be a STRONG leader, should be able to work on a shift system and must have had 2-3 years of experience in the Production management highlighted on their resume
5) Machine Operators
  • Must have had at least 2 years of experience
6) Mechanical Technician 
  • Must be able to make necessary repairs to equipment and machinery. 
  • Must be able to replacing defective parts, upgrade machine operations or replace wearable components that must be replaced on a periodic basis.
  • Must have had 3-4 years of experience.
