The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica) seeks to identify a suitable candidate to fill the following post in the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management – Lillian’s Restaurant:
Operations Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Operations Manager, Lillian’s Restaurant, is responsible for managing the operations of the restaurant, including the development and growth of people, sales and profits. The incumbent’s responsibilities include the development of rules and standard operating procedures for optimizing profits, by implementing production, quality and customer service improvements, and ensuring that the highest standard in food quality and sanitation is maintained at all times. The incumbent is also responsible for performing administrative and supervisory functions to ensure that the staff of the restaurant operates efficiently.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, majoring in Food and Beverage Management or a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Service Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution. Candidate must have a Food Handler’s Permit.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar food service operation. The candidate will also need to demonstrate knowledge of the restaurant and hospitality industry, the HAACP System and public health regulations, product specification and maintenance of kitchen equipment, and catering procedures. He/she must be knowledgeable of safety regulations and precautions, budgetary procedures, financial systems, forecasting and cost control, as well as marketing and sales techniques.
The candidate should be proficient in the following disciplines:
• Food and beverage management
• Supervisory management
• Inventory management
• Menu planning and pricing techniques in the hospitality industry
• Catering and banquet management
• Accounting practices
